SIAN ROYCROFT

LOCATION: Fenit, County Kerry

STYLE: Impressionism

Sian Roycroft is a self-taught artist whose expressive oil paintings are deeply inspired by the untamed beauty of the coastal countryside she calls home. Living beside the sea, she captures the ever-changing moods and movements of the ocean — from deep rolling swells and crashing waves against rugged cliffs, to translucent surf and calm reflective waters gently lapping the shore.

Her work is rooted in a profound connection to nature and the wild simplicity of the landscapes around her. Equally inspired by quiet country “bohereens,” Roycroft explores the rich biodiversity hidden within these narrow rural roads — vibrant ecosystems alive with native plants, insects, and wildlife. Through her paintings, she seeks to draw attention to the fragile beauty of these disappearing natural spaces, increasingly threatened by modern development.

Working in an expressive, impressionistic style, Sian Roycroft uses movement, texture, and layered colour to evoke atmosphere and emotion, inviting the viewer to experience both the power and vulnerability of the natural world.
