OLENA SHULHINA
LOCATION: Tralee, County Kerry
STYLE: Impressionist Realism
Olena Shulhina is a Ukrainian artist who was forced to leave her country due to the war. She could never have imagined that fate would bring her to this remarkable place — Kerry, where she has found her new home.
Deeply inspired by the beauty of the Irish coastline, Olena draws particular inspiration from the landscapes of Banna, Fenit, and Coumeenole Beach. Here, nature reveals itself in all its power and grandeur: the ocean meets the land, dramatic cliffs rise above the shore, waves crash endlessly, and the landscape remains lush and green, with a feeling of spring all year round.
With a refined sense of detail and atmosphere, she sensitively captures the ever-changing light, movement, and emotion of the sea. Her work reflects both the wild force and the peaceful harmony of the Kerry coast, revealing a deep connection between nature, place, and inner world through rich texture, colour, and light. These impressions come to life in her paintings, filled with inspiration and a vivid sense of the surrounding world.
